The engineering admission process can often be lengthy and confusing, especially when you have to wait for rounds 1, 2, and 3 to be completed. To avoid unnecessary delays, some students or their parents opt to secure admission to a different graduation course, such as BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) or BCS (Bachelor of Computer Science), while they wait for the engineering admission process to begin.
What Happens When You Take Admission in BCA/BCS First?
In such cases, students submit their documents to the graduation college as part of the BCA/BCS admission. During this time, it's important to ensure that the college staff provides a written acknowledgment of the documents submitted. This will help keep track of the paperwork and avoid any confusion later.
Once your engineering admission is confirmed, you need to submit this acknowledgment to the respective engineering college, ensuring your admission is secured. After this, within 3 to 4 days, you should collect your documents from the BCA/BCS college and submit them to the engineering college.
TFWS (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme)
One of the government’s great initiatives is the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS), which benefits economically weaker students who have excellent academic performance. Under this scheme, 5% of the total intake (approximately 60 students) in a particular course is reserved for TFWS candidates, which means these students can have their tuition fees waived.
To qualify for this, the student must meet the required academic criteria and have an annual family income of less than ₹6 lakh. It’s essential to get an income certificate from a government office before the admission process begins. This will help ensure your eligibility for TFWS.
