The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is starting its free counselling service for Class 10 and 12 students from February 1, 2025. This service aims to help students manage exam stress and stay focused during their board exams, which begin on February 15.
Counselling in Two Phases
CBSE has been providing this support since 1998. For the 2025 academic session, the counselling service will be available in two phases:
- First Phase: February 1 to April 4 (during the exam period).
- Second Phase: After the board exam results are declared.
Ways to Access CBSE Counselling
Students and parents can seek help in three ways:
- Toll-Free Helpline: Students can call 1800-11-8004 to access the 24x7 Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) in both Hindi and English. The IVRS provides exam tips, stress management strategies, and answers to common queries.
- Tele-Counselling: A team of 66 trained professionals, including school principals, counsellors, special educators, and psychologists, will provide one-on-one guidance. This service is available from Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Out of these experts, 51 are based in India, while 15 are from Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the UAE.
- Online Resources: CBSE has made bilingual podcasts and videos on stress management and exam strategies available on its official website.
Encouraging Students and Parents
CBSE has encouraged students and parents to make use of these resources to reduce exam stress and prepare confidently. These services are free and accessible to all students appearing for the 2025 board exams.
