The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) is set to host the 26th edition of Shaastra, its renowned student-run tech festival, from January 3 to 7, 2025. Entirely managed by over 750 IIT Madras students, the ISO 9001:2015-certified event promises to be a grand showcase of science, technology, and innovation. With an expected footfall of over 70,000, the five-day festival will feature 80 events, 130 stalls, and a variety of competitions, summits, lectures, exhibitions, and workshops.
Exciting First-Time Events
Shaastra 2025 introduces several new competitions that blend creativity and cutting-edge technology:
Shaastra Aerial Robotics Challenge: Teams will showcase autonomous drone delivery systems capable of navigating a geo-fenced area, locating a target, and dropping a payload with precision.
RoboSoccer: Custom-designed robots will compete in soccer matches, demonstrating advanced programming and strategic gameplay through dribbling, passing, and scoring.
Algo Trading: Participants will design and implement trading algorithms on the AlgoBulls platform, combining coding skills with financial strategy.
Petri-dish Challenge: A wet-lab competition, held in the Biotechnology department laboratories, where participants will identify unknown bacteria through rigorous experiments. Sponsored by NIOT, this event marks a significant addition to Shaastra.
