JEE Main 2025: Dress Code Guidelines for Male and Female Candidates

With the JEE Main 2025 exam scheduled from January 22 to 30, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued specific dress code guidelines to ensure a smooth and secure examination process. These instructions are designed to maintain fairness, prevent delays during security checks, and enhance the overall integrity of the examination.

No Formal Uniform, but Rules Apply

While there is no formal dress code or uniform mandated, candidates must follow the prescribed guidelines to avoid complications during entry and frisking at the examination center.

Dress Code for Male Candidates

  1. Avoid clothing with metallic elements, such as buckles or embellishments.
  2. Caps, mufflers, and head coverings are strictly prohibited.
  3. Opt for lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for the season.
  4. Refrain from wearing jewellery or accessories like rings, chains, bracelets, or goggles.
  5. Thick-soled shoes are not allowed; simple footwear is advised.

Dress Code for Female Candidates

  1. Avoid wearing stoles, dupattas, scarves, or any clothing with metallic items.
  2. Jewellery and ornaments, including rings, bracelets, and earrings, are prohibited.
  3. Choose comfortable, season-appropriate attire without heavy adornments.
  4. Accessories like goggles and bracelets are not allowed.

Exam Day Essentials-Β  Candidates must carry the following items to the examination center:

Admit Card (to be released on January 19, 2025).

A passport-size photograph (same as uploaded during registration).

A valid photo ID proof (e.g., Aadhaar card, PAN card, or school ID).

Prohibited Items

Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators, and smartwatches are banned inside the exam hall. Candidates should note that security checks, including post-bathroom frisking, will be conducted to maintain exam integrity.

Exam Schedule

  • January Session: January 22–30, 2025
  • April Session: Tentatively scheduled for April 1–8, 2025

Candidates are advised to familiarise themselves with their exam center location a day before and reach the venue at least an hour early on the exam day to avoid last-minute delays.
