The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the registration process for NEET UG 2025 on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. Eligible candidates can now apply online and check the official information bulletin, syllabus, and exam pattern.
Important Changes in NEET UG 2025
This year, NTA has made several changes to the exam to avoid any confusion or issues faced in previous years. Here are the key updates:
- No Optional Questions: The optional questions in Section B have been removed.
- Compulsory 180 Questions: The exam will have 180 questions—45 from Physics, 45 from Chemistry, and 90 from Biology.
- No Extra Time: The additional time given during the COVID period has been removed.
- New Tie-Breaking Rules: If two or more candidates score the same marks, merit will be determined based on:
- Higher marks in Biology
- Higher marks in Chemistry
- Higher marks in Physics
- Fewer incorrect answers overall
- Fewer incorrect answers in Biology
- Fewer incorrect answers in Chemistry
- Fewer incorrect answers in Physics
Exam Centres and Selection Process
- Candidates must select at least three cities for their exam centres within their state of residence.
- Exam centres will open three hours before the test, and entry will close at 1:30 PM.
- The exam will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
- A recent passport-sized photo (taken after January 1, 2025) must be uploaded with the application.
Admissions Through NEET UG 2025
NEET UG 2025 scores will be used for admission to MBBS, BDS, and veterinary courses, as well as for BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS under the Indian System of Medicine. BHMS admissions under the National Commission for Homeopathy will also require NEET UG scores.
Additionally, candidates applying for the BSc Nursing course at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals must qualify for NEET UG 2025.
