MHT-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) is an important exam for students who want to pursue engineering, pharmacy, and other professional courses in Maharashtra. Many students wonder if they can appear for MHT-CET without studying Mathematics. Let’s understand this in simple terms.
Understanding MHT-CET Streams
MHT-CET has two main streams:
- PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) – For students who want to pursue Engineering and Technology courses.
- PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) – For students who want to pursue Pharmacy and other health-related courses.
If you are not comfortable with Mathematics, you can still appear for MHT-CET, but only for the PCB stream. This means you will not be eligible for Engineering but can apply for Pharmacy and related courses.
Courses You Can Apply for Without Maths
If you choose the PCB stream, you can apply for courses like:
- B. Pharmacy (Bachelor of Pharmacy)
- D. Pharmacy (Diploma in Pharmacy)
- B.Sc. Agriculture (Certain colleges accept PCB students for agriculture courses)
Courses That Require Maths
If you want to pursue Engineering (B.E/B.Tech) or Computer Science-related fields, Mathematics is mandatory. You cannot apply for these courses through the PCB stream.
Exam Pattern Based on Stream
- PCM students: They have to appear for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics papers.
- PCB students: They have to appear for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology papers.
- Each subject carries 100 marks.
- There is no negative marking in MHT-CET
Can You Give MHT-CET Without Maths?
Yes, you can give MHT-CET without Mathematics only if you are applying for Pharmacy or other health-related courses. However, for Engineering and Technology courses, Maths is compulsory.
If you are a student who does not want to study Mathematics but still wants to pursue a professional course, you can opt for Pharmacy (B. Pharm, D. Pharm) or other PCB-based courses. But if your goal is Engineering, you must take Mathematics in 12th grade.
Make an informed decision based on your career goals and interests! Good luck with your MHT-CET preparation!
