IIM Shillong has marked its 18th foundation day by launching several significant initiatives aimed at enhancing community development and skill enhancement in the northeastern region of India. A key highlight of this celebration is the introduction of the Skill To Enterprise Model (STEM) program, developed in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
The STEM program is designed to provide comprehensive support to aspiring entrepreneurs, focusing on equipping them with essential skills, knowledge, and mentorship necessary to transform innovative ideas into successful businesses. This initiative will specifically target 30 local businesses, offering them training, financial assistance, and incubation support over an intensive 18-month period. The program aims to address regional challenges such as socio-economic growth and job creation, thereby fostering a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem in the northeast.
In addition to the STEM program, IIM Shillong also launched the Nurturing Minds School Adoption Initiative, partnering with two schools in East Khasi Hills District to improve educational outcomes and community engagement. These initiatives reflect IIM Shillong's commitment to driving social impact through education and entrepreneurship.
This strategic collaboration with SIDBI underscores IIM Shillong's ongoing efforts to empower local communities and support sustainable development in the region, reinforcing its role as a leader in management education and community service.
